Aranda Majula is Singapore's national flower — a hybrid orchid bred specifically for the honor in 1981 by the National Parks Board. The orchid series from the Monetary Authority of Singapore has drawn steady collector interest domestically, partly because orchid cultivation has been a point of civic pride since Lee Kuan Yew personally championed the city-state's greening programs in the 1960s.
