Obverse description A modified version of the presidential seal of the United States occupies the central field, with the legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcing above along the rim. The word LIBERTY replaces the traditional E PLURIBUS UNUM on the shield's chief, and a single outlined star has been added above the shield.
