Saint Eustatius never actually issued this coin for circulation. The island — a special municipality of the Netherlands since 2010, when the Netherlands Antilles dissolved — uses the US dollar as its official currency. These bimetallic "local" issues from Dutch Caribbean territories in this period were produced by private minting interests targeting the collector market, not any genuine monetary authority of the islands themselves.
