Obverse description The obverse is engraved in a classical early 19th-century style, with the large numeral '5' at center flanked by two oval medallion vignettes — a seated female allegorical figure to the left and another seated figure to the right. The central vignette presents a pastoral rural scene with standing figures in a landscape. The bank title 'AGRICULTURAL BANK' is set in bold letterpress across the top, with 'Upper Canada' noted at the upper left and the denomination 'FIVE' repeated in large letters at each horizontal border. The promise-to-pay text and dual denomination — 'TWENTY FIVE Shillings Currency' — are inscribed in the lower body, with the issue place and date 'Toronto' and manuscript signatures appearing at the foot of the note.
