正面描述 The Solomon Islands coat of arms occupies the centre of the note, flanked on the left by a transparent window incorporating a vignette of a yellowfin tuna alongside a traditional fishing hook, both elements underscoring the nation's commitment to sustainable marine resource management. The overall design employs the characteristic clear register of Guardian® polymer substrate, allowing the transparent window to serve simultaneously as a security feature and a thematic design element.

背面描述 A traditional spear-fishing scene forms the central vignette, rendered to evoke the cultural significance of artisanal fishing practices within Solomon Islands communities. The inscription "CENTRAL BANK OF SOLOMON ISLANDS" appears at left, while the national flag is reproduced at the upper portion of the note.

备注

Solomon Islands converted its $5 denomination to Guardian® polymer as part of a broader regional push by Note Printing Australia to transition Pacific island currencies away from cotton-based paper. The substrate change was partly practical — high humidity and heavy daily handling in tropical economies degrade paper notes far more rapidly than polymer, and replacement costs for small-island central banks are disproportionately high relative to circulation volumes.

TBB#221 slots into the current polymer series rather than representing a standalone redesign.
