Obverse description The obverse is dominated by an intaglio portrait of Sir Cecil Wallace-Whitfield at right, rendered against a pink and peach guilloche underprint. At left, a vignette of a sailing vessel and a map of the Bahamas archipelago appear within the multicolour underprint, alongside a smaller vignette of a flamingo and a conch shell. The issuer's name "The Central Bank of The Bahamas" is inscribed at upper centre, with the denomination "Five Dollars" in large letterpress to the right of centre.
