正面描述 At right, an intaglio portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is set against a multicolour guilloche underprint in shades of green and blue, with the Cayman Islands coat of arms occupying the central vignette amid decorative marine-themed imagery including conch shells at the margins. The authority title 'CAYMAN ISLANDS MONETARY AUTHORITY' runs along the upper border, with the denomination 'FIVE DOLLARS' in bold letterpress at centre and the legal tender clause inscribed above it. The date '2001' appears as part of the series inscription at lower left, with the Chairman's signature line below.

备注

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority was established in 1997, taking over currency functions from the Currency Board that had operated since 1972. This 2001 series marked one of the earlier issues under the new authority's name, though the practical arrangements with De La Rue remained unchanged from previous decades.

Cayman dollar notes are pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of CI$1 to US$1.20 — a rate that has held since 1974 and remains one of the highest-valued dollar-denominated currencies in circulation anywhere.
