| Opmerkingen |
The Banque Provinciale du Canada was one of Quebec's smaller chartered banks, and by 1935 it was operating in increasingly difficult conditions — the Depression had already claimed several Canadian chartered banks, and the newly established Bank of Canada (also 1935) signaled that the era of private bank note circulation was running out. Notes from this period were being issued knowing full well that federally mandated centralization was imminent.
BABN printed extensively for Canadian chartered banks from their Ottawa plant throughout this period. The Banque Provinciale would cease issuing its own notes within a few years, making the 1935 series among the final outputs before the privilege was absorbed by Ottawa entirely.
