The Dominion of Canada notes issued under the Ministry of Finance occupied an awkward institutional position — they were government obligations, not central bank liabilities, predating the Bank of Canada by over a decade. The 1924 series continued a pattern established well before WWI, with the Canadian Bank Note Company holding the contract for production in Ottawa throughout this period.

Pick 35 is genuinely scarce in high grade. The large format combined with heavy teller use meant the paper suffered at the folds, and redemption rates were high once the Bank of Canada Act of 1934 began consolidating currency authority. Survivors in collectible condition are disproportionately rare relative to original print runs.
