Obverse description Black intaglio print on white paper. The left portion carries a rural agricultural vignette with a farmer standing beside a white horse and livestock near a farm building, rendered in fine engraved line work. The bold serif inscription THE FARMERS BANK OF CANADA spans the centre, with the date TORONTO, JAN. 2ND 1907 and the obligation WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND above the denomination FIVE DOLLARS in a decorative panel; large numeral 5 counters appear at upper centre-right and lower right, with the word FIVE in a vertical panel at the far right. A purple CANCELLED overprint is visible at right.
