Opmerkingen

Molsons Bank — an extension of the Molson family's interlocking commercial empire — was one of Canada's chartered banks operating under the Bank Act, which required chartered institutions to issue their own notes as a condition of doing business. The American Bank Note Company held contracts with numerous Canadian chartered banks during this period; by 1903 their Ottawa facility had largely displaced the New York operation for Canadian work, a shift driven by both political pressure and practical logistics.

Molsons Bank was absorbed into the Bank of Montreal in 1925, at which point all outstanding Molsons notes were withdrawn. The 1903 series had over two decades of potential circulation before redemption.
