Obverse description	The obverse is executed in fine intaglio engraving in green and black, with the bank title THE DOMINION BANK arched across the top and the location TORONTO with the date 1st January 1896 below. A central guilloche medallion carries the numeral 5 and the legend FIVE DOLLARS, flanked by two allegorical female figures in classical dress — one kneeling to the left and one seated to the right — set against an elaborate scrollwork underprint.
