Reverse description Green intaglio-printed reverse with a central oval vignette of a pastoral or allegorical scene enclosed within fine guilloche latticework, bearing the inscription 'BANK OF MONTREAL' above and 'FIVE DOLLARS' below the oval. Large numeral '5' counters occupy the left and right panels within elaborate engine-turned geometric borders, with the word 'FIVE' repeated in each corner. The printer's imprint of the British American Bank Note Co., Montreal appears in small text along the lower margin.
