| 备注 |
The Union Bank of Halifax was absorbed into the Union Bank of Canada in 1910, which itself was later taken over by the Royal Bank of Canada in 1925 — meaning this note passed through two institutional deaths before the paper even had a chance to age gracefully. The British American Bank Note Co. in Montreal handled much of the chartered bank printing work in late nineteenth-century Canada, and their output for Maritime issuers like this one is meaningfully scarcer than equivalent notes from the major Ontario and Quebec banks, simply due to smaller authorized circulation volumes.
The chartered bank note system under the Bank Act of 1871 required redemption on demand in specie, which kept most notes in active circulation rather than hoarding — hard use is the norm for survivors.
