| Opmerkingen |
The Commercial Bank of Manitoba was chartered in 1884 and failed just three years later, in 1893, leaving a short window of active issue. Notes from this institution surface rarely — the bank never achieved significant branch penetration outside Winnipeg, which kept circulation volumes low and surviving paper lower still.
The Canada Bank Note Company in Ottawa was producing most of the chartered bank work in the Dominion by this period, and the Commercial Bank of Manitoba was among the smaller regional clients on its roster. Pick #997 is one of the few confirmed denominations attributed to this issuer.
