Obverse description The obverse is engraved in a rich green and black palette with two large ornate guilloche medallions bearing the numeral 5 at left and right. The central vignette presents the Canadian coat of arms flanked by two standing allegorical figures in classical dress, with the motto 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' below. A reclining female figure with a cornucopia occupies the lower right corner, while a beaver vignette appears at the lower left, above the boldly engraved issuer name 'THE QUEBEC BANK' and denomination 'FIVE DOLLARS'.

Reverse description The reverse is largely plain, printed on cream-coloured cotton paper with faint residual underprint impressions visible when examined closely. A handwritten annotation reading 'plate proof' appears in the upper right area, consistent with a proof impression on india paper or card mounted for archive purposes. Two faint oval guilloche watermark-style impressions are discernible at left and right.
