Popis líce	The obverse is dominated by a central vignette of a suspension bridge spanning a river valley with industrial buildings in the background, flanked to the left by an allegorical seated female figure beside a large numeral '5' within a circular frame, and to the right by a decorative rosette. A secondary vignette at the lower right depicts a steam locomotive in motion. The bank title 'THE ZIMMERMAN BANK' is set in bold letterpress across the centre, with the place of issue 'ELGIN' and promise text below, manuscript signature of Zimmerman as President at the lower right, and the legend 'CAPITAL ONE MILLION DOLLARS / INCORPORATED BY ACT OF PARLIAMENT' along the foot, with red counters throughout.
