| Reverse description | Light green note with a central oval vignette of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Resort rendered in full colour with celebratory gold drapery and a '50' anniversary medallion at its base. Multicolour confetti and streamers form the background underprint, flanked by Tinker Bell guilloche-style figures at left and right margins, each holding a numeral '5'. Disney Dollars were issued by The Walt Disney Company beginning in 1987 as a proprietary currency redeemable at Disney parks, hotels, and stores — legal under U.S. law because they function as gift certificates rather than negotiable instruments. The program ran until 2016, when Disney quietly discontinued it in favor of gift cards, making post-2005 issues the later survivors of the run.
The cotton substrate was a deliberate choice to mimic Federal Reserve notes and discourage counterfeiting — Disney pursued infringement cases aggressively. Each denomination series was redesigned periodically, so the specific 2005 printing sits in the middle of the program's mature phase.
