Opmerkingen

Disney Dollars were a genuine private scrip, legally redeemable at face value within Disney parks and resorts — a status that gave them standing most novelty currencies lack. The American Bank Note Company, by 1991 nearing the end of its long run as one of the Western Hemisphere's dominant security printers, produced the series with the same anti-counterfeiting specifications it applied to sovereign currency contracts.

ABNC filed for bankruptcy in 1999, which has led some collectors to treat late-contract Disney issues as incidental documentation of the firm's final decade.
