备注

Disney Dollars were legal-tender-adjacent scrip accepted exclusively at Disney parks and resorts, designed to be kept as souvenirs rather than spent — a deliberate strategy that generated pure profit on unredeemed notes. The 1988–1989 series of 5 Disney Dollars was among the earliest issues, launched alongside the 1987 inaugural 1 Dollar denomination as the company formalized its in-park currency program.

The notes were printed on cotton-blend paper with security features borrowed from genuine currency production, which is why they feel convincingly banknote-like in hand. Crane & Co., the same Massachusetts firm supplying paper to the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, is widely credited with the substrate — though Disney has never officially confirmed the full supply chain.
