| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic legend naming the Alaoui Sultan Abd al-Hafiz and identifying the Moroccan Sharifian realm, enclosed within a wreath of laurel or olive branches tied at the base. A six-pointed star (Star of Solomon) surmounts the inscription at the top of the wreath, serving as the dynastic emblem of the Alaoui Sultanate. The overall composition is symmetrical, with the branches framing the inscriptions on both sides and meeting at a decorative knot at the base. |

| Reverse description | Central design features an elaborate interlaced geometric medallion of Moorish style, formed by overlapping circular and polygonal frames. Within the central cartouche, a multi-line Arabic inscription states the denomination and the mint city Paris (Bariz), with the AH date 1329 inscribed at the base in Eastern Arabic numerals. The word ESSAI appears in small Latin letters in the lower exergual area, confirming the trial or pattern status of the piece. The entire design is surrounded by a toothed or dentilated border with small ornamental devices at the cardinal points. |
