| Obverse description | Central field features a raised circular cartouche bearing the denomination '٥ دنانير' (5 Dinars) in large Arabic numerals. The upper field carries the legend 'الجمهورية العراقية' (Republic of Iraq) in stylised Arabic calligraphy. Two symmetrical geometric arabesque ornaments flank the central cartouche at mid-field. The lower arc bears the dual date '١٣٩٠هـ - ١٩٧١م' alongside the commemorative inscription 'يوبيل الجيش العراقي الذهبي' (Golden Jubilee of the Iraqi Army). The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded border. |

The 1971 date places this squarely within the early Ba'athist consolidation period following the 1968 coup — gold commemoratives of this type were prestige pieces, not circulating currency, produced in limited numbers for presentation and foreign sale rather than domestic use.
