| Obverse description | Central field features a large circular design incorporating a traditional Kuwaiti dhow ship's wheel (helm) in the lower portion, overlaid with a stylized globe or crescent form behind which rise the battlements of a historic fort alongside modern urban architecture, evoking Kuwait's maritime heritage and urban development. To the upper right of the central device, the year appears in both Western (1981) and Eastern Arabic (١٩٨١) numerals within a recessed panel.
