| 背面描述 | A tall date palm occupies the centre of a large oval vignette, flanked on the left by millet stalks with heavy seed heads and on the right by a cotton branch bearing open bolls and buds, all executed in fine intaglio engraving in red-brown. The oval is set within an elaborate geometric framework of guilloche scrollwork and interlocking arabesques that fill the remainder of the note. Denomination numerals in Eastern Arabic and Western Arabic script appear in each corner against the ornate underprint. |

The South Arabian Currency Authority was a transitional institution, established to manage the monetary affairs of the Federation of South Arabia during the final years of British administration before Aden became the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen in 1967. The currency it issued had a short window — Federation politics were deteriorating sharply by 1966, with the NLF and FLOSY insurgencies making normal commerce increasingly difficult in Aden itself.
De La Rue produced this series in London, as they did for most British-administered territories of the period. Notes that saw genuine circulation in Aden during 1966–67 often show heavy wear, particularly along the folds, owing to the humid port climate.
