Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is entirely plain and unadorned, presenting a flat, smooth field devoid of any inscription, device, or decorative element. This minimalist treatment is consistent with an exploratory pattern or trial piece, where the reverse design had not yet been determined or was intentionally left blank for evaluation purposes.

Aanvullende informatie

In 1951, the newly established West German government was still settling the question of what a permanent coinage should look like. Several pattern pieces were struck in copper — a metal not used for the circulating 5 Mark issues — as part of the design evaluation process before the silver eagle type was finalized and released. Survivors exist outside official collections almost entirely by accident.
