Reverse description The reverse is executed in a two-colour scheme of carmine-red and dark blue, with an overall fine guilloche underprint covering the entire field. A large central vignette comprises a scalloped oval medallion with elaborate lathe-work borders enclosing a rectangular cartouche bearing a bold numeral 5, flanked on each side by the word FÜNF in small capitals. Corner numerals 5 appear in each quadrant against the dense geometric background, and the legends BANKNOTE and DEUTSCHE MARK are inscribed at top and bottom respectively within the decorative border.
