The crown is rendered with fine filigree detailing on the band and arches, surmounted by an orb and cross, and set with a single inset diamond gemstone at the front of the band. The upper legend THE CROWN JEWELS arcs around the top of the coin, while THE QUEEN MOTHERS CROWN curves along the lower periphery, both separated by a decorative stop. |

Issued to mark the life of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother following her death in March 2002, this is one of dozens of near-identical commemorative crowns the Turks and Caicos Islands produced for the British collector market throughout the late 1990s and 2000s — a revenue stream, not a circulating currency. The islands' use of the US dollar for everyday transactions made these pieces redundant the moment they left the mint.
