Additional information

Pobjoy Mint struck this piece for the Isle of Man, which has long contracted with the private Surrey-based minter for its commemorative output. The 75th birthday issue falls within a period when royal birthday crowns were produced almost annually across British Crown Dependencies, creating a crowded market of nearly identical commemorative pretexts.

KM#279 was also struck in silver and gold variants the same year, making the copper-nickel the workhorse of the edition — bought in bulk for gift sets rather than circulation.
