Opmerkingen

Nicaragua's reliance on the American Bank Note Company for its currency printing ran deep through the mid-twentieth century, and this 1962 issue arrived during a period when the Somoza family's grip on the country — and its central bank — was absolute. The Banco Central itself had only been established in 1961, making this among the earliest notes it issued under its own authority, distinct from the predecessor Banco Nacional series.

ABNC's intaglio work on Nicaraguan notes from this period is generally fine, though the 5 Córdobas denomination saw heavier day-to-day handling than higher values and survivors in unimpaired condition are proportionally fewer.
