Descrizione del dritto	Central vignette presents an intaglio-engraved aerial view of the Palacio Nacional in San Salvador, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint in teal, peach, and olive tones. The national coat of arms appears to the left of the building, with the date and bearer clause inscribed above in letterpress. The denomination numeral "5" is printed in the upper right corner with microtext patterning, and "CINCO COLONES" runs vertically along the right margin, with two facsimile signatures of the Presidente and Director below the vignette.

Descrizione del rovescio	A large intaglio portrait bust of Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus) occupies the left half of the note, rendered in fine engraving against a red and blue guilloche underprint. The centre and right portion carry a map of the Americas and Africa illustrating Columbus's transatlantic voyages, accompanied by vignettes of his fleet of caravels. The denomination numeral "5" appears in the upper left with microtext bordering, and "CINCO COLONES" is inscribed vertically along the left margin; a facsimile signature of the Superintendente del Sistema Financiero appears at lower right.
