Opmerkingen

The Banco Internacional de Costa Rica was a government-controlled institution established in 1914 to replace the private banking monopolies that had dominated Costa Rican currency issuance since the 1860s. This series ran across more than a decade, which means date variants exist and matter to specialists — early dates within the 1919–1930 span command noticeably different interest than late ones.

ABNC printed the plates in New York, as they did for the bulk of Central American government paper during this period. Their intaglio work for Costa Rica was consistently fine, and the plate quality held well across the series run.
