Opmerkingen

The Southern People's Bank (南方人民银行) was one of several regional Communist-administered banks operating in south China during the final phase of the civil war. Its notes circulated in liberated areas ahead of the formal establishment of the People's Bank of China, effectively functioning as provisional currency in territories taken from Nationalist control before a unified monetary system could be imposed from Beijing.

The 5 Chiao denomination served everyday small transactions in a period of acute monetary fragmentation — dozens of local and regional issues competed simultaneously, and acceptance depended entirely on which military force controlled the street where you were spending.

Pick S3485 is a scarce regional issue; surviving examples in any condition are infrequently encountered outside specialist Chinese civil war collections.
