| Obverse description | Central nickel silver field depicts a left-facing portrait of the Ussuri shrew (Sorex mirabilis), also known as the giant shrew, rendered in naturalistic relief. The Cyrillic legend ГИГАНТСКАЯ БУРОЗУБКА arcs along the upper portion of the field, with the binomial Latin designation '• Sorex mirabilis •' inscribed below the animal. The mintmaster's monogram МВ (MasterVision) appears in the lower field. The brass outer ring frames the central design and contributes to the bimetallic character of the piece. |
