MasterVision is one of several Russian private minting operations that produced collector tokens denominated in "chervontsy" — a unit revived from Soviet monetary history, where the chervonets was reintroduced in 1922 as a gold-backed currency during the NEP period to stabilize an economy wrecked by war and revolution.
