Reverse description A bold left-facing bust of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, first President of Kenya, dominates the central field, rendered in high relief with considerable portrait detail including his short beard and suit lapels. The portrait is modelled in a dignified, naturalistic style engraved by Norman Sillman. A circular legend arcs around the upper periphery reading THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF KENYA, while MZEE JOMO KENYATTA is inscribed along the lower periphery, both separated by raised dot stops.
