| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Cyprus occupies the central field, depicting a white dove in flight carrying an olive branch, set within a shield and flanked by olive branches forming a wreath. The independence year 1960 appears in the lower portion of the shield. A trilingual legend encircles the design, reading CYPRUS in Latin script at left, ΚΥΠΡΟΣ in Greek script at upper right, and KIBRIS in Turkish script at right. The year of issue appears at the base of the coin below the wreath. |

| Reverse description | A stylized ancient Cypriot bull's head rendered in the manner of a Bronze Age rhyton or ceremonial vessel dominates the central field, its sweeping curved horns forming a heart-shaped arc across the upper portion of the coin. The design is derived from an ancient Cypriot archaeological artefact. Two decorative foliate or wing-like ornamental elements flank the lower field on either side. The denomination numeral 5 is incuse within a raised circular border at the base of the design. |
