Three ribbon banners arcing beneath the cornucopiae bear the republican motto inscribed in relief lettering. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE arcs along the outer rim, with the engraver's signature A. PATEY and the word ESSAI appearing at the base of the design. A beaded border encircles the entire obverse. |
