| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections and supported by two birds — a scarlet ibis to the right and a cocrico to the left — both rendered in fine relief. Above the shield rises a helmet surmounted by a ship's wheel entwined with flowering branches, serving as the crest. Below the arms, two scrolled ribbons carry the national motto in raised Latin lettering: TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery, while the date of issue appears in large numerals at the base of the field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Trinidad and Tobago gained independence in 1962 but retained British colonial coinage until 1964, when the Central Bank issued its first national series. This bronze 5-cent piece was part of the decimalized currency structure inherited from that transition. The "non-magnetic" designation distinguishes it from a later steel-core version introduced as rising copper prices made bronze increasingly uneconomical to mint — a problem that forced similar compositional changes across Caribbean and Commonwealth issues during the same period.
