| Obverse description | The numeral '5' appears prominently in the centre of the field, with the word 'CENTS' inscribed beneath it. Two stalks of paddy frame the denomination, one curving upward along the left side and the other splaying outward at the lower left, evoking Singapore's agricultural heritage. The legend 'SINGAPORE' arcs along the right periphery, while the date appears in the upper portion of the field. The design is clean and bold, executed in a modernist style characteristic of Stuart Devlin's work for Singapore's first decimal coinage series. |
