| Obverse description | The right-facing effigy of Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States (1801–1809), occupies the central field, rendered in a sculpted portrait style by Don Everhart after designs by Joe Fitzgerald. The word 'Liberty', inscribed in a facsimile of Jefferson's own handwriting, appears to the right of the portrait. The motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is positioned to the left of the effigy. The date '2005' and the mint mark appear in the lower right field, along with the designer initials 'JF' and 'DE'. |
