Obverse description The obverse features the Jamaican coat of arms at centre, depicting a quartered shield supported by a male and female indigenous Taino figure on either side, with a crocodile passant atop the helm above the shield. The national motto OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE appears on a scroll at the base. The legend 21st ANNIVERSARY JAMAICA INDEPENDENCE 1962 1983 arcs around the periphery, with the Franklin Mint privy mark FM at the lower right of the field.
