| Opmerkingen |
H.M.C.S. Peregrine was a Royal Canadian Naval shore establishment in Halifax, commissioned in 1941 to handle the enormous influx of personnel passing through the port during the North Atlantic convoy campaign. Officers' mess scrip of this kind circulated as internal currency within the establishment, bypassing the need for coin in a high-volume mess environment where change management was a persistent administrative nuisance.
The tan paper stock is characteristic of wartime austerity printing — Canadian naval mess notes from this period were typically produced locally in small runs, not through any central authority, which makes precise print attributions difficult and surviving examples genuinely uncommon.
