| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, modelled by Percy Metcalfe, occupies the central field. The king is depicted bare-necked with a St. Edward's Crown, rendered in fine relief with strong sculptural detail. The engraver's initials 'PM' appear discreetly below the truncation of the neck. The circumferential Latin legend reads 'GEORGIVS VI DEI GRA. REX ET IND. IMP.' arranged around the periphery, separated by raised dots, with a milled border encircling the entire design. |
