Obverse description Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Tudor Crown, modelled by Percy Metcalfe. The king's truncation bears the engraver's initials 'PM'. The circular legend reads '·GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA', separated by a raised dot, running along the inner border of fine reeding. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic style with fine detail on the crown's arches, crosses, and jewelled band.
