Obverse description Left-facing effigy of King George VI wearing the Tudor Crown, rendered in low relief after a design by Percy Metcalfe. The king is depicted with a bare neck and truncated bust. The circular legend surrounding the effigy reads GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, in raised Latin lettering separated by a raised dot at the beginning. The design is contained within the square flan with rounded corners, with the legend running close to the inner edge of the coin.
