The reverse centres on a circular hole flanked symmetrically by two pairs of elephant tusks rendered in low relief, their curved forms sweeping around the perforation to create a bold decorative motif. The denomination numeral 5 appears prominently above the hole in the upper field. The legend EAST AFRICA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date appears along the lower periphery below the tusk design. A milled border frames the entire reverse. Mintmark SA, if present, appears beneath the central hole. |
