| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George V, depicted in robes with ornate military dress visible at the truncation, engraved by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. The king wears the Imperial State Crown, rendered in fine relief with detailed jewelling and fleur-de-lis ornamentation. The legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP: arcs around the periphery, reading from the lower left to the lower right of the field. The portrait is realistically modelled in a classical tradition, with strong facial definition and controlled relief suited to the nickel medium. |
