Obverse description The full coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, flanked by two woodcutters standing as supporters — the left bearing an axe and the right a paddle — each rendered in high relief against the mirror-polished proof surface. The shield displays crossed tools in its upper quarters and a sailing vessel in its lower portion, surmounted by a mahogany tree. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto legend SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The country name BELIZE arcs along the upper field, and the date 1974 appears in the lower field, all enclosed within a laurel wreath and a bold beaded border at the rim.
