Obverse description The coat of arms of Belize is prominently displayed in the central field, supported by two woodcutters standing as heraldic supporters, each bearing an axe or paddle, with a mahogany tree depicted above the shield. The shield itself features crossed tools over a sailing vessel in the base, rendered in fine relief. The national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO appears on a scroll beneath the arms, while the country name BELIZE is inscribed as the upper legend. The date 1974 is placed in the lower field, and the entire design is enclosed within an olive or laurel wreath with a raised beaded border at the rim.
