| 裏面の説明 | Two Zenaida Doves (Zenaida aurita) depicted in naturalistic detail occupying the central field, one perched in the foreground facing left and a second bird shown in flight or alighting behind it. The large numeral '5' appears prominently in the upper left of the field, with the denomination legend CENTS inscribed in a curve along the lower portion of the reverse. The finely engraved wildlife motif is characteristic of the Franklin Mint's proof coinage for the British Virgin Islands series. |

The British Virgin Islands gained a degree of constitutional autonomy in 1967, but the 1977 Silver Jubilee series was as much a political gesture as a commemorative one — a small dependent territory loudly affirming its Crown ties at a moment when decolonization pressure across the Caribbean was forcing difficult conversations about self-determination. The Franklin Mint produced these under contract, as it did for dozens of small-nation commemorative programs throughout the 1970s.
Struck in .925 silver for collector sale rather than circulation, most examples were sold directly in proof sets and never entered commerce on the islands at all.
